Girard Avenue Phases 2 and 3 sidewalk improvements received funding On October 10, 2007 Mayor John F. Street presented two checks totaling $1.9 million to Girard Avenue for new sidewalks. The grants were funded by the Neighborhood Transformation Initiative Restore Commercial Corridors Program.

The Girard Avenue sidewalk project between 25th and 31st Streets received $1.2 million, while the section between Front and Susquehanna Avenues received funding for $700,000. The two projects are the next phases of sidewalk improvements to follow the first phase of improvements completed earlier in 2007 on Girard Avenue between 6th and Front Streets.
