Girard Coalition, Inc. announces second of a series of FREE workshops for Girard Avenue business owners. Philadelphia, PA – March 31, 2006 -- The Girard Coalition, Inc. will present "Marketing your Retail Business on a Shoestring Budget", the second of several merchant workshops, on Thursday April 20, 2006. The workshop is scheduled to take place at the St. Augustine Presbyterian Church located at 2701 W. Girard Avenue and will run from 6 pm - 8 pm. Maven, Inc. marketing consultant Iola Harper will facilitate the workshop.

The purpose of the workshops are to work directly with Girard Avenue businesses to help owners better market their products and services through (1) monthly "merchant clinics" where they can have free, one-on-one consultations, (2) quarterly "design day" group workshops where architects will work with pre-registered businesses on façade and structural improvements. Finally, (3) Maven will offer a variety of free workshops throughout the year with themes such as "extreme storefront makeovers" and "marketing your retail business on a shoestring budget".

The Girard Coalition, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization of Girard Avenue. It is a broad coalition of over 50 neighborhood groups, businesses and major institutions along Girard Avenue, a major east-west artery in Philadelphia, who have come together to stimulate commerce, increase foot traffic, and grow the population of the Avenue, creating a vibrant and exciting commercial corridor.
