With funding from the William Penn Foundation, Girard Coalition, Inc. is working with the Mural Arts Program and LISC on a gateway to the western entrance to the area of Girard Avenue near 32nd Street and Girard Avenue. Mosaics were installed on a bridge that is part of Girard Avenue at 31st Street and Girard Avenue during early November 2005 and five large ornamental sculptures of butterflies and dragonflies are being fabricated using metal for installation near the bridge during March 2006. Each butterfly and dragonfly would fit in a 10 foot by 12 foot box.
